Altar desecrated at Italian parish

July 30, 2013

Four Moroccan youths have desecrated the altar at a parish in a small town in the northern Italian province of Mantua.

The Gazzetta di Mantova reported that the four youths stole money from the parish house in Libiola as the parish’s priest and two nuns were taking children on a day trip. The youths then urinated and defecated on the parish’s temporary altar, which has been in use since an earthquake last year.

“They have shown contempt for our religion,” said Father Eugenio Ferrari. “But if I did the same thing in their mosque, my neck would be cut, wouldn’t it?”
