Russia tightens scrutiny for religious bodies

Government officials in Russia have carried out a rigorous “inspection” of religious groups, to ensure that they comply with official guidelines.
The government inspections, which focus particularly on whether groups should be classified as “foreign agents,” were made on every religious organization in Russia, with the sole exception of the Russian Orthodox Church.
