Indian bishops demand speedy investigation following murder of seminary rector

Following the murder of the rector of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary in Bangalore, the 15 bishops who serve on the seminary board are demanding that “the government of Karnataka and the investigating agencies to bring to justice the culprits immediately.”

Bangalore, a city of 8.4 million in southern India, is the capital of Karnataka.

“On the night of March 31st and the 1st of April, 2013, Fr. K. J. Thomas- Rector of Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore was brutally murdered,” Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore recounted in an April 19 statement. “As the postmortem report indicated, he was killed violently with wounds on his face, forehead, head, chest and back.”
