Pro-life activists win legal settlement in Rockford, Illinois

March 04, 2013

The city of Rockford, Illinois, has settled a federal suit brought by pro-life activists, with an agreement to pay legal fees and to protect the rights of pro-life activists.

City administrators agreed to amend ordinances that could infringe on the constitutional rights of pro-life activists, and to provide special training programs for local police to ensure that they are aware of the activists’ rights to freedom of speech and assembly. The agreement ends nearly 5 years of maneuvering in federal courts.
