Germany: ruling against infant circumcision overturned

Seven months after a German court banned infant circumcision, prosecutors have dismissed charges against a rabbi who had circumcised a baby boy with parental consent.
Following the court ruling, the government of Angela Merkel introduced legislation permitting the traditional circumcision of Jewish infants. The German parliament passed that measure in a 434-100 vote in December.
