American Bible Society plans largest-ever Bible exhibit at Vatican

October 15, 2012

The American Bible Society (ABS), which sponsored an impressive special exhibit on the Bible at the Vatican during this year’s Eastertide, is planning an even larger exhibit for 2014.

“It has been exciting for us to come back to Rome and speak to the Vatican authorities, who have invited us to present a new Bible exhibit,” said Mario Paredes, an ABS spokesman. He said that the group expects to confirm agreements with the Vatican in December for an Easter 2014 exhibit on the theme: “The Bible in the world and in the New Evangelization.” The exhibit is to include historical artifacts that show both “the historicity of the Bible” and the way the Bible has nourished the spread of Christian faith.

Paredes—who was primarily responsible for the ABS exhibit earlier this year--was in Rome along with Lamar Vest, the president of the ABS, who was issued a special invitation to attend the Synod on the New Evangelization. Vest spoke to the bishops at the October 9 session of the Synod.
