Tony Blair bucks bishops, backs same-sex marriage

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who entered the Catholic Church after retiring from public office, has broken with the Church by indicating that he “strongly supports” a bid for legal recognition of same-sex marriage.

Blair gave his approval to a plan that has backing from the current prime minister, David Cameron. The Catholic bishops of Great Britain have opposed the measure.
