'Corruption' stories show deep divisions within Vatican

A spate of stories about alleged financial mismanagement at the Vatican highlights the sharp conflicts within the Roman Curia, writes leading Vatican journalist Andrea Tornielli.

Tornielli makes a convincing argument Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, who apparently led the charge against cronyism, is not the source of the leaks that have appeared in the Italian media. Nevertheless Archbishop Vigano’s high-profile involvement in an intramural Vatican dispute complicates his work as a diplomatic representative of the Holy See.
