Catholic youth pray for peace in Holy Land

January 30, 2012

Young people from 2,500 cities pledged to spend some time in prayer or Eucharistic adoration on January 29 for the intention of peace in the Holy Land. The initiative was promoted by associations of Catholic youth with the support of Church authorities in Rome and the Holy Land.

“The first thing that we as Christians could and should do is refer all of our aims for peace to Jesus, to God,” said Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Custos of the Holy Land.

“Young people are and can be a resource for peace,” added Cardinal Peter Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, in a message for the event. “I thank you for showing the world the active, beautiful and young face of the Church of Christ.”
