Colombian prelate criticizes adoption of boys by gay US journalist

December 15, 2011

The secretary general of the Colombian bishops’ conference has criticized a judge’s decision that permits a homosexual US journalist, Chandler Burr, to adopt two Colombian boys.

“What investigation was done on the personality of the father?” said Bishop Juan Vicente Cordoba Villota of Fontibón. Only “a couple formed by a man and a woman, or a man alone or a woman alone with a stable psychology,” should be able to adopt.

Homosexuality “is a disorder of sexual identity, of gender identification,’ the Jesuit prelate added. Between Burr and the boys--one age 10, the other 13--there can be “no parent-child relationship; you get two boys at an age when they can be attractive to him, which may be a temptation.”

Following the publication of his comments, Bishop Cordoba issued a statement that described the adoption as “not ideal.”

Most victims of sexual abuse are boy who were abused by men. The idea that there is no connection from the mental disorder of homosexuality and the mental disorder of sexual attraction to children is clear. Only idiots with an agenda deny this.

Really, hartwood01? ...A homosexual man with tow young males at an age when they are just developing their own sexual identity. The Bishop has it right. Why allow the situation to exist when the strong possibility exists for abuse?
