Pioneer firm abandons embryonic stem-cell research

Geron Corporation, a pioneer in embryonic stem-cell research, has announced that it is abandoning that field.

After years of touting the potential applications of embryonic stem-cell research, Geron has found that it cannot continue raising funds for its programs. Venture capitalists have evidently become skeptical about the researchers' claims.

    Thank God! Money is always the bottom line, and now the embryonic stem cell researchers can quit wasting it.

    I suppose we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth or anywhere else, but it would have been nice if they had abandoned this dreadful line of meddling on ethical grounds instead of simply because it wasn't paying.
