September 30, 2011
The Vatican has disclosed the prayer intentions of Pope Benedict XVI for October 2011.
The Pope’s general intention is: "That the terminally ill may be supported by their faith in God and the love of their brothers and sisters.” His missionary intention is: “That the celebration of World Mission Day may foster in the People of God a passion for evangelization with the willingness to support the missions with prayer and economic aid for the poorest churches.”

Terminal illness can lead to a sense of hopelessness. Please remember the terminally ill in your prayers so they might find real hope in our savior Jesus Christ who gave his life for us that we might share his eternal life. Thank you, Pope Benedict, for directing our hearts to the dying in these weeks before All Soul's Day. We can pray for the grace of a holy death on a daily basis, and it is prudent to make preparations with loved ones long before time is short and we are under duress.
