France: more practicing Muslims than practicing Catholics

August 22, 2011

“Islamic mosques are being built more often in France than Roman Catholic churches, and there now are more practicing Muslims in the country than practicing Catholics,” the Hudson Institute reports.

There are nearly 150 mosques now under construction in France. By contrast only 20 new Catholic churches have been built in the past decade, while 60 churches have been closed—in some cases, to be converted into mosques. Over 40 million French people identify themselves as Catholics, but fewer than 2 million practice the faith regularly. There are only 4.5 million Muslims living in the country, but 41%, or 2.5 million, practice their faith regularly.

It's certainly possible that McDonald's at least contributed to the destruction of their culture. Despite their distaste for things Western, it appears that the Muslims want to finish what McDonald's started. Cultural destruction makes for strange bedfellows . . .

And they were so worried about McDonalds destroying their culture. France was once a very Catholic nation, indeed, this is the fount from whence their culture sprang. For the most part, anyhow. And now they sit idly by, banning headdresses in the name of women's rights while their country ignores the heritage that made it France. I guess since they are going to become the Euro Zone someday in the future, individual country's cultures aren't important anymore?
