Profile of Jeffrey Anderson, specialist in lawsuits against Church

July 27, 2011

The "Superlawyers" site profiles Jeffrey Anderson, the Minnesota-based attorney who has won countless millions in judgments against the Catholic Church in sex-abuse cases.

The practice has been lucrative, to say the least. Anderson "collects as much as 40 percent from each settlement," the profile notes. His largest win, in monetary terms, was against the Los Angeles archdiocese, which paid over $600 million.

A caution: A few overanxious Catholic bloggers have highlighted the article's report that "Anderson wants to depose Pope Benedict XVI." That quote is accurate, but the context is all-important. Anderson is saying that he wants to take the Pope's deposition--not that he wants to oust him from the papacy.

A truly unsavory man, it is true. However, he does God's work in eating up the corruption within the Church. Which is, of course, to equate him to the proverbial catfish.

You only need one word and/or picture to give a profile of Anderson: Shark.

OK, so he wants to depose Pope Benedict, i.e. take his deposition. How much you wanna bet he also wants to depose, i.e. overthrow, him? Indeed, how much you wanna bet he wants the Church entirely and completely destroyed? Any takers?
