AsiaNews correspondent tortured in Bangladesh, now held in Nepal

A correspondent for the AsiaNews service, who escaped from Bangladesh after being tortured there, has now been taken into custody by police in neighboring Nepal.

William Nicholas Gomes, a convert from Islam to Christianity, fled to Nepal after he was abused by police in Bangladesh, who hinted that he had engaged in subversive activities. He is now being held in Katmandu.
