Toronto Catholic school board member raps 'wasteful' government audit
June 17, 2011
Government officials in Ontario have spent nearly $1 million investigating a Toronto Catholic school board, and recovered only $29,000 in improper spending, according to a member of the embattled board.
Education minister Leona Dombrowsky dismissed the criticism of the government investigation. The thorough financial audit of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, she said, was motivated not only by a desire to recover costs, but also because the board had been unable to balance its own budget.
