Texas governor issues call for prayer, fasting for US

June 07, 2011

Governor Rick Perry of Texas has issued a call for prayer and fasting for the welfare of the US, and encouraged his fellow governors to join him in a day of prayer on August 6.

Two governors—Sam Brownback of Kansas and Bobby Jindal of Louisiana—have already announced that they will join Perry in the “day of prayer and fasting on behalf of our troubled nation.”

Perry is sometimes listed as a potential Republican presidential candidate--although to date he has said that he does not plan to enter the race.

Governor Perry has stood up many times over the years - for the poor, the victims of great disasters and for the unborn. After Katrina he opened his state t the victims - especially the very poor - while the federal government was in disarray about what to do. He is fervently pro-life and unafraid to stand up for tiny defenseless babies. And now he recognizes where our help will come for our troubled nation. May God bless him and the governors who are joining him.
