Families abandoning Tripoli: prelate
May 12, 2011
Families are fleeing Libya’s capital because of NATO missile strikes, the city’s apostolic vicar has told Vatican Radio.
“We have no more social life in Tripoli,” said Bishop Giovanni Martinelli of Tripoli. “Many families have left; children have no more school.”
“The people are very tired,” he added. “The women came to the church asking, ‘Please Father, tell the Holy Father to do something for us.’”
