San Francisco parish bulletin prints gay activist's thanks October 15, 2007

Although Archbishop George Niederauer of San Francisco has issued an apology for giving Communion to flamboyant homosexual activists during a visit to Most Holy Redeemer parish earlier this month, the parish bulletin has reprinted a thank-you note from one of the demonstrators who confronted the archbishop.

A prominent member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, identifying himself as "Sister Delta Goodhand," wrote to thank parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer for their welcome. "Your entire congregation was so welcoming," he said; "You are a wonderfully inclusive church!" The gay activist's note was published in the parish bulletin for Sunday, October 14.

Earlier in the week Archbishop Niederauer has apologized for administering the Eucharist to two men who approached wearing bizarre makeup and costumes, including one dressed in a parody of a nun's habit. Although he claimed that he did not notice any sign of disrespect during the Mass, the archbishop later apologized for his failure to recognize the demonstration. The archbishop said that the actions of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are "deeply offensive" to women religious.
