What? A papal tweet without a furor?!

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | May 01, 2014

The Pope’s Twitter message for today is:

I ask everyone with political responsibility to remember two things: human dignity and the common good.

Thus far I haven’t seen anyone, on the Catholic right or left, claiming that this is a radical departure from traditional Church teaching. But it’s still early in the day.

Nice, succinct analysis. And also a good translation of the word "rigid." When is someone going to publish a dictionary of Francis-isms?

I can't see anything wrong with it. Doesn't the Church traditionally uphold human dignity and common good?
