Ash Wednesday-- at last!

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Feb 22, 2012

Maybe it's just something about my age, or my particular circle of acquaintances. But I have the sense that many people--myself included--have been anxious for Lent to begin. Have you?

There's a general recognition out there, I think, that we're facing some serious battles: socially and politically as well as spiritually. We need to whip ourselves into shape to face those challenges. At least that's certainly how I feel; do you feel the same way?

If you do--and even if you don't--let me offer the traditional cheery greeting of the season: May you have a miserable Lent!

the trust of the legislation may vindicate Archbishop Vigano, but it appears that there are some in the Vatican to which the legislation does not apply.

Great point! However, the "new rules" seem to be just a smoke screen to provide impression on being tough on abuse while not doing anything different, and the vindication of Archbishop Vigano appears to be an unintended (and most likely unwanted) side effect. And, to the sincere Catholics, who love the Church, Archbishop Vigano is a hero who does not need "to be vindicated" for disclosing the corruption; his priorities are Christ-like.

Don't let the new rules fool you. Archbishop Vigano is still being actively attacked by the Vatican mafia and leftist leaders in the hierarchy to avoid the truth about the Pope and Mccarrick and those who supported Mccarrick. It is important to know who Mccarrick supported. You have hierarchy as Wuerl,Tobin,Cupich of Chicago, whose conduct over the years have been detrimental to the Church.

Yes, I too have felt that. I've been counting down the days til Ash Wednesday and have set up a much more rigorous than usual Lenten observance for myself. Something's afoot . . . .

Yes, Phil, I've been anxious for it to begin, too. It's about time to get myself into shape . . . again. May you have a miserable one, too!
