Quick Hits: New podcast targets the Equal Rights Amendment

By Dr. Jeff Mirus ( bio - articles - email ) | Sep 10, 2019 | In Quick Hits

Readers may recall that last year we reviewed Robert G. Marshall’s extraordinarily useful book, Reclaiming the Republic: How Christians and other conservatives can win back America.

Now Marshall returns with the Reclaiming the Republic Podcast—an incisive nine-episode presentation offering a very practical public policy analysis of the current effort to pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

A strong Catholic, Bob draws firm moral principles from the natural law, and he roots his practical recommendations in decades of political experience at both the State and Federal levels. As of this writing, the episodes cover:

  1. The Equal Rights Amendment is still a bad idea
  2. Present status and background of the ERA
  3. Minefield of ERA consequences
  4. ERA’s simplistic language hides radical, far-reaching consequences
  5. Two Presidents oppose ERA; Commonsense amendments to ERA fail

Bob Marshall is an impeccable researcher. This series drills all the way down to the original source documents on which the ERA is based. He is also a superb tactician, who can offer suggestions that will actually work. A sample of his moral clarity and thoroughness may be seen in the resource materials he published on CatholicCulture.org before he began this podcast project, materials which form the basis of Episode 1.

Jeffrey Mirus holds a Ph.D. in intellectual history from Princeton University. A co-founder of Christendom College, he also pioneered Catholic Internet services. He is the founder of Trinity Communications and CatholicCulture.org. See full bio.
