Sample a beautiful new musical setting for the Mass in English

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Aug 09, 2019

When was the last time you heard new Catholic liturgical music that was beautiful, reverent, accessible, and easy to learn? Since the talented composer Paul Jernberg is a friend and neighbor, it happens to me often.

Do yourself a favor, and watch at least the trailer for a video recording of a new English setting for the Mass. If you’re hooked, here’s the full recording.

By the way, this Mass was celebrated (and filmed, obviously), in my parish: a magnificent church, built with the hard-won money of the Irish immigrants who worked in the mills (now closed) in the neighborhood.

(I’ll send a free autographed copy of Smoke of Satan to the first reader who correctly identifies where I am in the congregation.)

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Is this what Mass is like there every Sunday? If so, you're truly spoiled.
