Bernardin

By Fr. Wilson ( articles ) | Jun 11, 2003

Cardinal Bernardin definitely took care of his own. Under him, when he was General Secretary of the USCC, was working Thomas Kelly and Michael Sheehan. It was when Michael Sheehan was rector of Holy Trinity Seminary in Dallas that Rudy Kos applied for admission -- for the SECOND time -- having been refused by the previous rector, Gerald Hughes, who placed a note in the Kos file saying that he shouldn't be accepted. Sheehan, as rector, had recourse to Kelly for that famous annulment.

Kos got into the seminary despite the fact that the former Mrs. Kos contacted the diocese to say, "Rudy can't be a priest! He likes BOYS!!."

Sheehan went on to become Bishop of Lubbock, now is Archbishop of Santa Fe. So, you see, you CAN put this stuff behind you...
