snobbery

By Diogenes ( articles ) | Sep 17, 2008

A member of the Democratic National Committee has endorsed John McCain's presidential bid. That's not so shocking in itself. It's the sort of announcement that commands attention in a presidential year, but there are always a few prominent people switching sides. What surprises me is the reason given by Lynne Forester de Rothschild for her desertion. She doesn't like Obama, she says, because "I feel he's an elitist."

CNN provides a bit of background, for those who can't tell the players without a scorecard:

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with business around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.

The Rothschilds have never had much tolerance for elitists.
