eNewsletter Subject: Ahead of the game: Friday's Insights today!

I like to think I am sending out Friday's Insights message today, though it raises a question of logic. In any case, I'll be on the road tomorrow.

I've been running a mini-campaign to raise the remaining funds we absolutely must have this month, and we have just $797 to go. So if donors will keep modest gifts flowing through the weekend, we should have no problem.

In Tuesday's message, I mentioned the tragic murder of a French priest, while saying Mass, by Islamic State terrorists. Pope Francis responded by speaking of the war we are in, but emphasizing that he does not like to call it a religious war.

On the other hand, we cannot ignore the religious character of the attack, and so we have a real dilemma if we want to speak about it normally, without splitting hairs. As Phil Lawler asks, If not a religious war, what is it?
