Perhaps it isn't surprising that we must turn back to politics occasionally, especially with Pope Francis reminding us again and again to welcome migrants and refugees as much as we possibly can (as, in fact, the Catechism teaches).

In any case, Phil Lawler took up one part of the question this week in his latest On the News commentary: Obama is wrong; persecuted Arab Christians should be given priority for asylum.

And Thomas Van called another part of it to our attention in Some necessary information about the refugee process. The Church's teaching on immigration requires a prudent implementation, but I've found that it is too often obscured by feelings even among otherwise good Catholics.
