eNewsletter Subject: A different tone at this Synod?

Phil Lawler noticed right away that there was a different tone from the first at this Synod, compared with last year's: At Synod's opening session, evidence of a different dynamic.

I believe you'll see this also in Pope Francis' opening address, in which he emphasized that the Holy Spirit can work through the Synod only if the Synod fathers adopt a spirit of apostolic courage, evangelical humility and trusting prayer.

Phil also points out that the Gay Vatican official who 'came out' may influence the Synod in a way he didn't expect—or want.

I agree absolutely. Considering the big picture, here is my expectation for the result of this two-year synodal process: Internalizing marriage at this year's synod....
