Today we will begin and end with the Sacraments. We tend to think about them more than usual during the Easter Season. For example, those who are brought into the Church at Easter receive the sacraments in the traditional order: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

But through a combination of historical accidents, most cradle Catholics receive them in a non-traditional order, with Confirmation in the third spot. Jennifer Gregory Miller discusses this in The Role of Christ and Sacramental Graces in Sacramental Catechesis.

There has been a good deal of interest in the twentieth-century theologian Henri de Lubac, SJ, whenever I've highlighted his work. Now Thomas Van has written about one of de Lubac's more fascinating books. See Beyond Our Ken: Henri de Lubac's Paradoxes of Faith.
