They aren't our biggest stories by any means, but several Catholic World News reports since my last message have deep implications for discussions that have gone on recently among users of CatholicCulture.org.

With respect to the furor over Pope Francis, for example, consider these two straws in the wind:

• Don't be naive, the devil exists, Pope tells congregation
• Vatican disapproves of policy allowing divorced/remarried Catholics to receive Communion in German archdiocese

The policy referred to in the second story was actually adopted while Freiburg is between bishops. See the point made in this follow-up story: Canonist: German archdiocese has no authority to change rules for receiving Communion.

And with respect to the always popular topic of immigration in the United States, here is some important news: Study finds that 34% of Catholics in US are Hispanic....
