Owing to my vacation, here is a very brief version of the usual Friday Insights message. I'll return on Tuesday with the complete package.

I think it is both interesting and instructive that Bishop Philip Egan of Portsmouth has stated that same-sex marriage was inevitable in England and Wales because of the widespread acceptance of contraception.

More courageous and comprehensive preaching from all bishops since the 1960s might have dramatically reduced this problem among Catholics, even if the larger secular culture was still swayed.
