eNewsletter Subject: Reading Francis

I think it is worth devoting another Insights message to highlighting Pope Francis' new encyclical, Lumen Fidei (Light of Faith). We now have it in our library, which is sometimes easier to use than the Vatican site. Again, reading it bears dividends.

Some have wondered whether this is somehow a combined document with the authority of both Francis and Benedict, but that is not the case. Phil Lawler explains in No, it's not a 'joint' encyclical.

Unfortunately, we don't have to look far to see instances in which the truths of the Faith are not upheld. Once again the American CHA has let us down: Catholic Health Association snubs US bishops, accepts HHS mandate.

And of course the Irish bishops are still trying to keep abortion from expanding in their country: Irish bishops again urge lawmakers to reject abortion legislation, prepare for legal challenge....
