eNewsletter Subject: We Need Cultural Change

Following the U. S. Supreme Court decisions this week in two cases involving gay marriage, Phil Lawler and I agreed that however important or unimportant we rated the rulings, the larger cultural battle on homosexuality has already been lost throughout the West.

For this reason, it seems rather foolish to expect contrary results from political entities, including courts. If you do not yet know the nature of these cases and their decisions, you'll find them summarized by our Catholic World News service: US high court decisions offer twin victories for same-sex marriage.

Just as clearly, President Obama wishes to push the envelope on homosexuality as much as he can. In a situation in which it can only offend many, the United States has appointed a gay ambassador to the Dominican Republic: Dominican cardinal decries US appointment of openly gay ambassador....
