eNewsletter Subject: Our New Year of Faith
The Year of Faith opened yesterday, and it was timed deliberately to coincide with the current Synod on the New Evangelization. I'll be focusing on Year of Faith themes as time goes on, but please note that we've put together a collection of highly relevant resources in our Year of Faith Center.
There seems to be a strong spirit of Faith at work in the early days of the Synod on the New Evangelization as well. You'll understand what I mean if you read my essay on The New Evangelization: Down with Optimism, Up with Hope. Be sure to watch our daily Catholic World News stories to keep posted.
Also in the news, the American presidential campaign is certainly a challenge to our Faith. The Vice Presidential debate last night unfortunately pitted two Catholics against each other. Some things were left discouragingly unclear: Frustration with Ryan and Biden.
Given that the Catholic Faith is under assault in a great many countries around the world, including the United States under the policies of our current President, perhaps it is time to revisit the story of Catholic oppression in Elizabethan England.
