eNewsletter Subject: Fortnight for Freedom

The US Bishops' Fortnight for Freedom began yesterday evening, and will run until Independence Day on July 4th. This is one component of the USCCB's campaign for religious liberty. Naturally, it prompts many reflections on the problem of liberty.

Though it is perhaps a minor point, I was pleasantly surprised by the Fortnight for Freedom prayers.

I was also prompted—by this and many other circumstances—to write what I hope will be a deeper essay on that essential freedom that lies at the core of what it means to be human: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, for Freedom.

Phil Lawler points us to a new 99-cent book which explains how the natural law should frame all debates about liberty in the public order: Cardinal Dolan's useful new book....
