Praying with Mother Angelica

Mother Angelica died on Easter Sunday at the age of 92 and Pope Francis is convinced she is in heaven. If you were a fan, you may wish to continue to pray with her by using a well-crafted prayer book published by EWTN entitled “Praying with Mother Angelica.”
This is a reworking of several small booklets of her prayers and meditations that were first made available in the 1970s, before Mother Angelica entered the world of television. The book includes meditations on the Rosary and on the Stations of the Cross, as well as a section entitled “Mother Angelica’s Conversation with God”, which offers brief, prayerful thoughts on spiritual concerns such as humility, hope, discouragement, anger, forgiveness, time and eternity.
Although I have not read the entire prayer book, I did try out Mother Angelica’s meditations for the Stations of the Cross during Lent, and found them excellent. As for the Rosary, the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries are from Mother’s own hand, but the Luminous Mysteries were developed by the editors especially for this collection.
They had not yet been promulgated by Pope John Paul II when the other prayers were written, and later Mother Angelica was no longer healthy enough to take on the task. The Luminous Mysteries are written as much as possible in her style and draw where they can from her own previous reflections on these saving events.
