Vietnam releases jailed Catholic activists
April 14, 2011
The Vietnamese government has released 29 Catholic activists who were arrested earlier this month outside a Hanoi courthouse where a prominent human-rights activist was on trial.
Although the April 4 arrests had drawn international protests, state-controlled news agencies said that all of those arrested would face prosecution. The government has evidently backed away from that threat.
