Maine bishop declares day of penance for clerical abuse

Bishop Richard Malone of Portland (Maine) has declared March 29 a day of prayer and penance for the sin of clerical sexual abuse. In addition to offering a special Mass at the cathedral, the bishop has urged priests βto consider having their churches open for a least a few hours on that day and to invite the faithful to join in prayer, fasting and acts of penance.β
