House committee encourages public buildings, schools to post ‘In God We Trust’
CWN - March 18, 2011
By a voice vote, the House Judiciary Committee has approved a resolution reaffirming “In God We Trust” as the national motto and “encouraging the public display of the national motto in all public buildings, public schools, and other government institutions.” The resolution now proceeds to the full House of Representatives.
“There has been a chilling effect where schoolchildren, school districts, where individuals in federal buildings didn't know if they could post 'In God We Trust' on their walls,” said Rep. Harry Forbes (R-VA), the measure’s chief sponsor.
