2 New Orleans parishes ‘occupied’; parishioner wins ‘cat-and-mouse game’ with archdiocese

Parishioners at two recently closed parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans-- St. Henry and Our Lady of Good Counsel-- have begun vigils in an effort to keep them open. When archdiocesan officials changed the locks at the latter church on Monday morning, they were unaware that at least one parishioner had spent the night hidden in the church. The church doors with new locks were then opened from the inside, allowing the ‘occupation’ to begin.
