Israeli PM praises Pontiff for book's treatment of Jews
CWN - March 03, 2011
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has written to Pope Benedict XVI, thanking the Pontiff for teaching that the Jewish people do not bear collective guilt for the death of Jesus.
"I commend you for forcefully rejecting, in your recent book, a false charge that has been a foundation for the hatred of the Jewish People for many centuries," the Israeli leader said. He added that he hopes to meet with the Pope soon, to convey his appreciation in person.
