Nuncio warns of email scams claiming Vatican involvement
CWN - February 17, 2011
The Vatican’s representative in Australia has issued a warning about email scams that solicit funds by pretending a connection with the Holy See.
Archbishop Guiseppe Lazzaratto said that the Vatican is concerned about a rising number of fraudulent schemes that claim to be raising funds for special Vatican-backed projects. He said that anyone who receives an email solicitation should contact responsible Church officials to ensure that the appeal is legitimate before making a contribution.
