Cardinal Rigali places 3 priests on leave, reopens abuse investigations

After a Philadelphia grand jury report asserted that as many as 37 priests who have committed abuse remain in active ministry, Cardinal Justin Rigali has announced that he is placing three priests on administrative leave. The cardinal has also hired a former assistant district attorney to reexamine the cases of all accused priests who are in active ministry. "The cardinal's strong words and recent efforts are the correct steps at this time," District Attorney Seth Williams said.
