Moscow Patriarch praises outgoing papal nuncio
CWN - January 27, 2011
Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill of Moscow praised the former apostolic nuncio in Russia, Archbishop Antonio Mennini, for “your personal contribution to settling difficult problems in relations between our churches.”
The Russian Orthodox leader offered his thanks to Archbishop Mennini as the veteran Vatican diplomat began a new assignment as the apostolic nuncio in Great Britain. Archbishop Mennini had served in Russia for 8 years. His tenure saw a marked warming in relations between the Moscow patriarchate and the Holy See, as well as the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the Vatican and Russian.
