Catholic journalist, human-rights activist killed in Philippines

A crusading Catholic radio journalist was shot and killed in the Philippined on January 24.
Gerry Ortega had been involved in human-rights work with indigenous peoples living on Palawan Island, whose way of life has been threatened by mining development. He became the 142 journalist killed in the Philippines in the past 25 years.
