Pope offers best wishes to Italian police force at Vatican
CWN - January 17, 2011
Pope Benedict XVI likened the Italian police who patrol the Vatican area to “guardian angels” during a private audience on January 15 with officials of the General Inspectorate for Public Security in the Vatican.
Officials of the Italian police squad—who share responsibilities around the Vatican with the Swiss Guard and the Vatican’s own police—traditionally meet with the Pontiff at the beginning of each year. Pope Benedict offered the wish that their service could “stimulate the spiritual dimension of your own life and the commitment to deepen your own Christian faith.”
