Pope visits hospitalized children
CWN - January 06, 2011
Pope Benedict XVI visited a Roman hospital on Wednesday evening, blessing a new ward and spending time with the children who are being treated there.
The new ward in the Gemelli hospital will specialize in care for children with spina bifida. During his stay at the institution—which was the focus of worldwide attention when Pope John Paul II was treated there—Pope Benedict spent some time in the pediatric-care unit, presenting each child with a small Christmas present and assuring them of his prayers.
