Bomb scare defused at US embassy to Vatican

Rome’s bomb squad was called in to the US embassy to the Holy See on December 29 to examine a suspicious package. Police reported that there was no bomb.
Officials in Rome, particularly at foreign embassies, have been on edge since explosive devices have been discovered at three other embassies and in the headquarters of an Italian political party during the past week.
