Israeli mayor bars Christmas trees from suburb of Nazareth

The mayor of Nazareth Illit (Upper Nazareth), a suburb of the city where Jesus was raised, has refused to allow Christmas trees in the town’s Arab distict.

“Nazareth Illit is a Jewish city,” declared Mayor Shimon Gapso. He characterized the request to put up Christmas trees in the town squares as “provocative.”
