Australian Catholics launch petition to protect marriage
December 09, 2010
Australian Catholic lay groups have joined with the Sydney archdiocese in calling upon parliament members to support traditional marriage.
Lay leaders have launched a petition—with the vocal support of Sydney’s Cardinal George Pell—asking lawmakers to “protect the unique institution of marriage as traditionally understood and actually lived as the complementary love between a man and a woman.” The petition is being circulated in Catholic parishes, with the faithful asked to join in the effort.
